Product Groups

Create collections of products and set specific rates that apply only to those products.

A Product Group is a set of product variants that you want to have special shipping rates for.

Example
Acme Inc. ships some products that are fragile and can only be sent via courier. They set up a Product Group called “Fragile Items” that has all the items that require courier shipping.
They then create rates for their “Fragile items” groups and also for the “General” group that contains all other products by default:
* “General” group contains two rates: “Fast shipping - $8” and “Regular shipping - $4”
* “Fragile items” group contains two rates: “Fast shipping - $12” and “Regular shipping - $10”

Product Groups in Postcode Shipping work in a similar manner to shipping profiles in Shopify. You can set up Product Groups to mirror existing shipping profiles you might have in Shopify or, if you are not using shipping profiles yet, you can simply create Product Groups directly in Postcode Shipping.

Note - if you are not using shipping profiles already then we strongly recommend setting up Product Groups directly in Postcode Shipping as it makes working with rate rules more straightforward.

Key features

Product Groups are great for merchants with products that have differing shipping requirements:

Create custom Product Groups or base groups on existing shipping profiles in Shopify.
Define rates that have completely different calculation strategies and rules for different products.
