Create a new Region
Learn how to create a Region within a Shipping Zone by defining rules that target (or exclude) postcodes or place names. Once you've created a Shipping Zone you will see the 'Add a Region’ panel. Learn how to edit an existing Region to update its basic properties and its match or exclusion rules. To edit a Region simply select the Region you wish to edit from the list of Regions within a Shipping Zone. Then make any changes that you require within the ‘Region Details’ or ‘Rules’ panels. Create target areas within your Shipping Zones as large as a country or as small as a single postcode. What is a Region? A Region is a set of rules that allow you to target specific areas within the countries that make up your Shipping Zones. Learn how to delete a Region along with any Rates that have been defined for it. To delete a Region, select one from the list of Regions, within a Shipping Zone. Wildcard rules
A wildcard rule allows for the creation of rules than can match any character from a given position within a postcode. An asterisk (*) character is used to define a wildcard rule. In the example below, the postcode for the destination address must start with BS1 followed by a space and then any other combination of letters and numbers in order for this Region to be considered a match: BS1 * Valid usage In order to be considered valid, the section of the postcode before the wildcSome readersRange rules
‘Range’ rules make it possible to match against potentially large numbers of postcodes in a single line. A hyphen (-) character is used to separate the ‘from’ and ‘to’ sides of a range rule. A wildcard-range rule matches postcodes that fall within a range. In these rules, the 'from' and 'to' sides of the range are partial postcodes, defined using wildcard characters. An area rule can be used to match against parts of the destination address other than the postcode, or to provide a match for the destination countries where postcodes may be optional or not widely used. Area rules are defined using a 'key' (e.g. state, city , postcode) and a 'value' - one or more characters that you want to match. Single rules are the most basic type of rule. These rules consist of a full, valid postcode which the order destination address postcode must match. The exclusion rules apply to a particular region. If you exclude a postcode for a particular region, you can still have that postcode applied in the inclusion for other regions.
