Ana uses product groups and wants to set specific rates for single group items cart and mixed carts

NOTE: If you're looking for the rates to be added together if they belong from different product groups, then you won't need the guidance in this article as the expected behavior for the app is to add up rates if the cart contains items from different product groups. For more info about how rates are calculated, please check: How Product Group rates are calculated.

Ana ships to UK Mainland and she already has:

Installed Postcode Shipping to her Shopify store & connected Carrier Shipping.
Navigated to her Postcode Shipping dashboard.
Created a Shipping Zone for the UK in Postcode Shipping, and setup a Region for UK Mainland using 'Wildcard' rules.
Defined and setup her two product groups:

General (Chocolates & cards)
Flowers & wine

And Ana already knows what rates she wants to offer for UK Mainland too:

Same-Day Delivery
Same-Day Delivery: €6--> General products only
Same-Day Delivery: €8 --> Flowers & wine only
Same-Day Delivery: €10.99 --> Flowers & wine + General products

2-3 days Delivery
2-3 days Delivery: € 3.99 --> General products only
2-3 days Delivery: € 6 --> Flowers & wine only
2-3 days Delivery: € 7.99 --> Flowers & wine + General products

Ana needs to set up to go to her region, and set the rates for carts with individual product group products first. She can do this by creating Rates (in each group) with Rate Rules where it can apply if it Only includes a particular product.

Within the Shipping Region, go to the rates section for the General group--> click the option to 'Add a Rate this product group'

Give the Rate a title. Ana uses 'Same-Day Delivery'. Then set a Flat rate for €6 , and add a Rate Rule that specifies that Product groups represented in cart Only includes General:

Then go back to the General rates group--> Show rates--> Add a rate. Ana's second rate name is '2-3 days Delivery '. Then she needs to set a Flat rate to € 3.99, and add a Rate Rule that specifies that Product groups represented in cart Only includes General.

Now Ana needs to repeat the same process for the Flowers & Wine group rates. She needs to click the option to 'Add a Rate this product group'--> Then create both rates with her desired prices, and she will set up a rate rule, but this time, specifying that Product groups represented in cart Only includes 'Flowers & Wine'.

At this point, Ana should already have four rates configured for carts with products belonging to a single group:

Same-Day Delivery: €6--> General products only
2-3 days Delivery: € 3.99 --> General products only
Same-Day Delivery: €8 --> Flowers & wine only
2-3 days Delivery: € 6 --> Flowers & wine only

This means Ana is only missing a rate, the rate that will apply to carts with items from both product groups; General + Flowers & Wine. To set this one up, Ana needs to:

On the General rates group, configure:

Same-Day Delivery: €10.99 + Rate Rule : Product groups represented in cart includes 'Flowers & Wine'.
2-3 days Delivery: € 7.99 + Rate Rule : Product groups represented in cart includes 'Flowers & Wine'.

On the Flowers & wine rates group, configure:

Same-Day Delivery: €0 --> + Rate Rule : Product groups represented in cart includes 'General'.
2-3 days Delivery: € 0--> + Rate Rule : Product groups represented in cart includes 'General'.

With this, both rates will be added up together, and give the desired final rate:

Same-Day Delivery: €10.99 + Same-Day Delivery: €0 = €10.99
2-3 days Delivery: € 7.99 + 2-3 days Delivery: € 0 = €7.99

You can use this setup for your product groups too too! Even though this example is based on only two groups, and two rates for 1 region, you can setup your rates, and rate rules in a similar way if you need to define rates based on carts with items from an individual group, or carts with combined items.
